Whitestone Media Group, a Wales-based digital marketing and website design agency, has announced a new initiative offering free website design to independent restaurants, cafés, pubs and hospitality businesses across Wales.

The initiative has been launched in direct response to growing financial pressures facing the hospitality sector, including rising business rates, increased operating costs and a concerning number of recent closures. With many businesses struggling to adapt to these challenges, Whitestone Media Group is aiming to provide practical digital support that can help businesses attract new customers and remain viable.

Recent changes to business rates and relief schemes have placed additional strain on small hospitality businesses already operating on tight margins. Combined with rising energy costs, staffing challenges and reduced consumer spending, many local venues are facing difficult decisions about their future. Across Wales, rumours of closures and genuine uncertainty have become increasingly common within the sector.

Dayne Stone, Director of Whitestone Media Group, said: “We are seeing first hand how tough things are right now for restaurants and hospitality businesses. These are businesses that form the backbone of our communities, yet many do not have the time or budget to invest in their online presence even though that is exactly where customers are looking.”

This is to show the web designers and marketing specialists have moved office to The Bridge Innovation Centre.

Whitestone Media Group currently designs and manages websites for hundreds of local businesses across Wales, giving the team direct insight into how customer behaviour has shifted in recent years.

“More and more people are discovering businesses online first,” Mr Stone added.
“If you are not visible, clear and easy to find online, you are already at a disadvantage.”

“As of January 5th we’ve moved into the Bridge Innovation Centre allowing us to grow our team, our facilities and the resources we can offer to local businesses. It gives us the space to run free training sessions, practical workshops and digital support days for businesses that might otherwise struggle to access that kind of help.”

Why a website matters more than ever

Whitestone Media Group says a strong website is no longer a luxury for hospitality businesses. It is essential.
Mr Stone added: “When budgets are tight, visibility becomes even more important. A well built website can directly increase footfall and bookings. It is one of the strongest tools a business has to fight back against closure.”

What the initiative includes

Eligible hospitality businesses will receive a professionally designed website at no cost, including:

The initiative is aimed at independent Welsh businesses and is not only limited to those in the hospitality industry. It will be offered on a limited, first come basis to ensure quality delivery and hands-on support.

A commitment to local business

Whitestone Media Group has a long standing focus on supporting Welsh businesses and local economies through digital marketing, website design and creative services. This initiative forms part of the company’s wider commitment to helping businesses adapt, grow and remain resilient during challenging economic conditions.

Mr Stone said: “If we can remove one barrier for a business, even just their website costs and help bring new customers through the door then that is worth doing. Strong local businesses make strong communities.”
